"Szépapó"-oak. It has probably named after its very high age. It's 250 years old and it's body-perimeter is 560 cm. This is one of the eldest trees of our region, "Békés"-shire. The Tree (with some other mates) can be found in the Vátyon Forest next to the Korhány-brook.* The forests of Vátyon give home a lot of endangered species. Here lives a very rare snail called "Teethless columnsnail" (Columella edentula). In the past a great number of wildcats (Felis silvestris) lived here but unfortunately this population is almost extincted today.
The most of the area was the own of the Tisza-family, where the farming hadn't stopped between the two wolrd wars. The forest-deployments served huntering goals.
The famous hungarian poet "Arany János" has written here some of his poems.
*: Vátyon has a few number of forests, and one of them has been named after the area, Vátyon. The other forests's collective noun is "The forests of Vátyon".
